Hi there @ArthurB if the brush bar will not spin on your machine but does on others, this does in fact mean a main body is needed. Please note that the part when purchased directly with Dyson will carry a full one-year warranty. I connected the roller directly to the machine body, but, although power is getting to the head, it won't spin.
