I pull a John Deere 265 disc mower with a 1977 MF 275 tractor, it 67 pto hp . I been wanting to put that mower on a caddy because it be easier to store it. I run a 1460 Deere on a NewHolland TS90 which is rated for 70 PTO... but the test says 77 PTO hp. The mower is a 9'9" Kuhn bar. On first cut it makes the tractor whimper. It runs it for as much silage as we chop, then the mower goes on the other tractor at about 105 hp. Works much better... Deere did make an older disc moco with flails that would run on 55 PTO HP. Most discbines ask for 60-65 PTO or more and that is just to get it turning, different story at speed in heavy crop. I run a 5 disc (NH HM235), 42 PTO HP ran it, mowed 5 MPH easy, but taxed the tractor heavy.
